Hi there,
The ICO released the 4th chapter of its guidance on anonymization, pseudonymization, and privacy-enhancing technology. This chapter, on accountability and governance, follows the publication of a first chapter on anonymization, a second on the effectiveness of anonymization, and a third on pseudonymization
In this installment, the UK's information authority explains the governance approach enterprises should take when anonymizing personal data. They provide recommendations on how to ensure transparency using Data Protection Impact Assessment, on the legislations to consider when releasing anonymous data, and on the appropriate staff training.
This chapter remains open for public consultation until September. Meanwhile, the ICO will continue releasing new chapters until a complete Draft is available. The final guidance should clarify the legal practices around data anonymization and pseudonymization for organizations. Hopefully, it will pave the way to legal recommendations from instances in Europe.
Below is a roundup of our recently published articles and our favorite reads from the data and privacy world.
